Horse Trail Infrastructure Info Share
This page is for horse riders, land managers, trail builders and government agencies to share information about horse trail infrastructure. Geeky.. well no! The ability for land managers to actively plan for and provide for horse trails into the future will in part depend on how information can be gathered and be used to provide guiding principles for horse trail infrastructure. An uploaded idea might just solve a localised problem and allow current use to continue.
So, if you know of a horse friendly trail bridge, step-over, gate, horse trail signage, holding yards, trail heads, hitching posts, ford crossings, trail surface, trail design feature or other infrastructure specifically built for horses, currently on public land, out on a trail now in Australia, please take the time to:
1. Photograph it
2. Record its location (GPS or descriptor)
3. Record the land manager e.g. Forestry, Local Government (required:so others can contact them for further info)
4. Leave your name and email (optional but helpful)
4. Say something about why it is good, safe and sound for horses
5. If there are any design faults that can be improved, or it is a good design located in a bad spot, make mention of any considerations.
That way, horse trails (and future horse trails) Australia-wide can benefit from our collective knowledge. It is planned to present a summary of information collected at the next National Tracks and Trails Conference.
